Tesco, a national grocery retailer needed to refresh its in-store bakery offer across 71 sites, creating a more modern, consistent and engaging customer experience. As a key destination within the store, the bakery environment had to feel welcoming, operationally efficient and aligned with the retailer’s evolving in-store standards – all delivered within tight closure windows and without disruption to the wider estate.
SJH led the programme with a planning-first mindset. Every store began with detailed sequencing, shared POWs and clear communication across all trades. We coordinated closely with signage teams, equipment suppliers and fixture manufacturers to ensure each bakery could be delivered in a controlled, non-live environment.
Working out of hours, our teams created a calm, predictable rhythm, giving the retailer confidence that every five-day closure window would run safely, smoothly and without impact on the rest of the store.
Each site followed a consistent sequence, allowing the retailer to plan confidently and maintain operational stability across the estate.
By delivering out of hours and isolating bakery areas, we ensured zero disruption to customers and store teams.
Close collaboration with suppliers, manufacturers and signage teams kept every moving part connected and reduced delays.
All works were completed to the retailer’s technical and safety standards, with full documentation provided at handover.
